About Anita

Anita is a counsellor, psychotherapist and educator with over 25 years experience working with children, adolescents and families. Anita holds an undergraduate degree in psychology, a diploma of education and a master of counselling degree, from the University of Tasmania.

Anita’s unique blend of training and practice offers opportunities for those seeking help with a range of difficulties as they impact on family life, emotional, psychological, academic and/or social wellbeing. Her practice offers confidential support and a therapeutic approach that is sensitively tailored to suit individual clients, family or group needs.

Anita is trained and experienced in a number of evidence-based, client-centred counselling methods, using techniques from positive psychology, behaviour therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, strengths-based and solution-focused therapy, coaching and psycho education.

Anita is trained and skilled in facilitating group counselling for children and adolescents who are experiencing a range of issues including: anxiety and depression, lack of social confidence and resilience, low self esteem, bullying, friendship difficulties, parental separation, and grief and loss.

As well as working in private practice, Anita has worked as an autism consultant, an autism advisor and as a special education leader in both the private and public education systems.  Anita has a published book review this  area and delivers presentations to parents and professionals.
